Yey there.. smiley - winkeyesmiley - ok

Free... Time? I'm sorry you must be mistaken -- or insane! My free time is basically taken up thinking of projects to work on -- and when I'm not working on them, I'm thinking about how to improve them. But besides that, music is great (not generically, but my taste fits me and I think it's great - Rock) and reading's good too (Currently I'm trying to build up a complete Terry Pratchett collection - I could be here some time!) and another thing I've noticed I tend to do is go way out of my way to help people out (fix their websites for them, /make/ their websites for them, give them freebie computer parts, constructive criticism on their misuse of written English (smiley - winkeye) etc; Though it doesn't really bother me - in fact I quite enjoy it so it's OK. smiley - ok) and now and then when I get a spare moment from programming, I'll probably program something which will end up turning into a new project and thus complete the vicious circle... smiley - smiley

Have you been to <./>MiscChat</.> and <./>AskH2G2</.>? They're great if you want lots of backlog to attend to if you've few posts on your most recent conversations list - but don't get too enthusiastic.. too much backlog can be a bad thing. smiley - smiley

Normally I'd give you a link to http://www.tytg.co.uk/ or http://www.tytg.co.uk/yellsoft/ - But seeing as the entire site has been put on 'Scheduled Maintenance', there's nothing to see there but a 'Coming soon...' page - unless you have the login for the 'Under Wraps' sections dotted around it for testing. smiley - smiley

But seeing as this is so, I write web-based software primarily: Guestbooks, Message Forums, Download Trackers, etc - stuff to help running a website, but I'm also enjoying learning Flash (from macromedia), so I'm fiddling about with that, too.

Oh, and in college, I'm 'learning' an inferior ancient language called Pascal. Soon enough though, I'll be moving on to learning a language called C, which is, uhh - rather better, than Pascal. smiley - winkeye

My favourite language though - has got to be PHP - It's just -- brilliant. smiley - smiley

Quoth the PHP.net website:

PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. Much of its syntax is borrowed from C, Java and Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown in. The goal of the language is to allow web developers to write dynamically generated pages quickly.

What can PHP do?
Anything. PHP is mainly focused on server-side scripting, so you can do anything any other CGI program can do, such as collect form data, generate dynamic page content, or send and receive cookies. But PHP can do much more.

But that's probably a bit technical... I have a problem in that I lapse into techie-mode without noticing. smiley - winkeye
