h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Yup, following your mentioning this wonderful site I have finally got round to clearing out my old account. (Well, as clear as it's likely to become considering it has a couple of years worth of the PR forum conversations subscribed to it!)

Q: As a recent h2g2 user, have you any idea why my username always appears with two goggle eyes next to it?? I'm sure they weren't there when I left! Unless my typing somehow conveys my optically challenged state....

Oh, and apologies if you visit my shameful intro page, it's needing a complete renovation.

I think you know most of them...

In answer to your question (*Thom puts his smug 'I know something Liz doesn't ' hat on*) ... the goggle eyes appear next to your name whenever you are logged in to H2G2. This applies to everyone else as well; so they know when you're on, and you know when they're on. If me and you are ever online at the same time, we will both see the goggle-eyes next to eachother's names and hence be able to contact eachother. (*Thom takes the hat off, well aware that Liz now knows everything he does again and hence he has lost the advantage - *)
