Hypermobility Syndrome

Post 1

Mynyddyarcher

My 3 grandchildren are all hypermobile as is my daughter (their mother) and her father.

She has had many problems with the NHS getting them diagnosed and treated.

She has even been accused (in veiled terms) of having Munchausens by Proxy..

The youngest has poor eyesight and stretchy skin too, and cannot function without regular doses of painkillers. He's 6.

She cannot get them a referral to GOSH and is at her wits end.

The eldest and youngest are extremely tall for their age, all 3 score 9 points on the Beighton Scale.

Hi Mynyddyarcher,
I am sorry I didn't see this earlier. I'm not on h2g2 much anymore. I just wanted to suggest that perhaps your daughter could print out some research to take in to the doctors and ask them to guide her in the correct diagnosis. I have had some small success doing this although I must say that some doctors are a bit odd about patients doing their own research so a degree of sensitivity will help. Doctors have big egos sometimes, bless them.
Good luck to your daughter and grandchildren. I hope all resolves well for them.
smiley - ok
Wilma
