your welcome really surprised me.
sadly enough I only learned about h2g2 after DNA's passing to another dimension.. maybe he would be pleased to see that so much new energy is created and linked through this.

Well, Angels and Ace's watch over newcomers, so they feel right at home... and lately its been REAL difficult keeping pace..
with DNA's passing smiley - sadface , tons of people came 2 h2g2, the last days the site was sooooo slow...

Anyway, are you finding your way around ok?

I'm sure that as soon as you start searching and strolling through the Guide you'll like it alot... I spend hours online...

actually there is a question I couldn't find the answer to myself: if I'd like to have
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A554032 recomended as an edited entry (because I really think it's some important bit of information)
a) WHERE can I say so?
b) somewhere I read 'we don't edit one liners' - but I don't know if it was meant seriously
c) is there any policy about quotations (ok - I can always put them in my personal space of course). I know the policy says 'no copying' - but this wouldn't be, would it?

anyway: I'm impressed by h2g2 - and I'm very glad DNA saw it come to live - and knew it would get more efficient with every progress of the web technology.

Well, one the button on your left, the one that says "contribute" you'll find out about how 2 start writing 4 the guide. You must start a project, and then an editor will be assigned 2 you, so he can help you and edit your entry. Not all entries make it 2 the Edited Guide.

Basically 2 find out WHAT u can and can't write in the guide take a peak at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Writing-Guidelines

Try looking at some projects in the university of life 2 see what entries are like... http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/C573

and also check out the workshop... http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Writing-Workshop

Hope this helps!

Hi sunny and Trin.
Though it's good recommendations you give, Trin, it might be a little ambitious to start an university project just when you join the Guide. The 'contribute' page (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Contribute) is indeed a good place to start, but then *I* would recommend to read some "normal" edited entries instead of entire university projects. You can find all entries edited in the last month at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Month
To have an entry put in the edited Guide, you'll have to send it through Peer Review. Read all about it at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/PeerReview - at the moment the banner on top of the page takes you there! smiley - winkeye
It's a very good idea to read some of the conversations in the forum for Peer Review, as it will give you an idea of what the Scouts (who are the volunteers who recommend which entries should go into the edited Guide) are looking for. And you're very welcome to comment on anything in the forum yourself!

I'm afraid a one-liner quote won't have a chance to go into the edited Guide, but good luck!
