Do you have AIM?

If you don't, you ought to get it—I can't stand seeing that people are online at H2G2 but not being able to actually talk to them.
Well, except the ones I don't know. Then it doesn't so much bother me.

Hehe, this always bothers me as well. *Ahem* Art thou not just as guilty occasionally? Hm. Anyway, I know for a fact C has AIM, but then she went through some sort of computer upgrade so maybe it got wiped. Plus, of course, we know how much time AIM sucks away.

Erm... well, yes, but... ohhhh, that's different!

What I did was upgrade my old Win95 to Win 2000, then down to Win NT, then up to Win 2000 again. I had AIM before and during, but then it got so I was putting AIM and ICQ and ____ (what is that chat program we were doing at floor42?) on and just moments later wiping the hard drive again....
Anyway, I'm settled on this Win 2000 here. So I will be putting it up soon. I have it in one of these bins here *** starts rummaging around in piles of virtual trash ***
And somewhere in a physical heap of papers here I have a print-out of floor42 AIM names I found in a thread.
Did Emmy ever get AIM working? She has AOL but had never downloaded AIM though I was asking her to...

... then it becomes maddening for me. I get on, get into a real-time conversation, and the child demands attention every other sentence.
I have a cartoon taped to my fridge. It shows the mother saying "Today it finally happened - I had a complete thought!" My whole life - thoughts, conversations, sentences, taking showers, sleeping, going to the bathroom - is always interrupted by this adorable little midget.

Well, no worries... if you ever get *really* tired of all that, you can always sell 'im.

Emmy did have AIM running once or twice. She doesn't usually turn it on but if we're doing a multi-person chat and we pester her, she will join us.
