Alex, it's all good stuff, but I'm not sure it flows as well as the others in the series.

Could you introduce the "put teabag in cup" example. What type of puzzle is it an example of? Is it a good example?

The entry would be better, in my opinion, if you covered some creative techniques, rather than leave the reader/compiler to work it out for themselves.

The puzzle types you listed - would it be worth including some good or bad examples of each?

One further thing - the following section introductions are very similar:

....

Hope this helps!

smiley - cheers Icy

Oh, you know - flipchart on the beach, blue-sky thinking, that sort of thing smiley - winkeye

Well, it's your entry - what would you do to get inspired? I'm guessing from this series that you've writen a few in your time.

Yes, but they were all short and rubbish, and besides, they went the same way as the games I made for my TX-83 graphic calculator - accidental deletion smiley - wah The cup of tea example was my best ever - I should try to redo it some day - just not now.

That's sad on a number of levels. (But I admit I did once write Mastermind in Oracle Forms)

Well, if you're not an experienced adventure puzzle compiler, and I'm certainly not, then I don't think we're going to get very far. I'd see what others think... smiley - smiley

I've taken some of the bits from an old Entry on IF by Bez, and I'm drawing on the experience I have from playing text-based adventures as well. smiley - erm

I reckon you've made it into something which is not only useful to adventure game compilers, but stands up in its own right as a very readable entry.

The examples really bring it to life. I can see that there must be a real sense of satisfaction in getting these puzzle sequences right. I feel inspired to write a few of my own after reading this - well done! smiley - ok
