I am very happy to see that you've the guts to represent controversial views when, up until recently, the entire elected government, much of the mainstream media, and numerous vocal individuals disagree with you. Questioning is one of the most patriotic things you can do; I know I often look at myself, my habits and attitudes, in order to improve myself and better fit my ultimate goals, and this is not due to a lack of self-love. You are asking that the US do the same, and in this you are American. When, according to Reuters, the CIA says that pictures or descriptions of the results of US military attacks on Afghan civilians are not acceptable in national newspapers, because Americans just MIGHT question this war, MIGHT just feel the same sympathy for foreign civilians that we felt for own, Americans like you should take a deeper look. When the US military "accidentally" bombs Afghan Red Cross buildings, exactly as they "accidentally" did several years ago following the US embassy bombings, we need Americans like you to ask if we are really waging a war on those responsible for the WTC attacks. According to a UN study, the US military has killed 3,000 civilians in Afghanistan in the first 2 WEEKS following September 11th. By now, that number is certainly much higher. It is likely that we have killed more of their civilians than the terrorists killed of ours, 5,000 Americans. This is not prevention. This is not retaliation. This is blind, under-analyzed anger. Thank you for asking questions when only the boldest newspaper columnists will do the same. God bless America, figuratively and otherwise.
