Catz are interesting life forms
Practising Listener Started conversation Apr 17, 2001
We have 2 interesting cats that own us (or so they say).
Why do they sit on my foot while I put their breakfast out on their plates? Do they think I will work faster or slower (from pain or pleasure) as a consequence?
Why when they are WET do they insist on rubbing their whole body against my naked shin in the early dawn?
And if I am reading the paper, what joy should I derive when they launch themselves across a 3 foot gap and land in my lap (without warning or invitation)?
Purring ever so loud when I am listening to a Nocturne on the Walkman is another favoured trick.
My wife Brenda thinks they are intelligent and cute. But is it intelligent to dice with death? Many is the time when I could have cheerfully turned one or both catz into a pair of fur lined boots or a fur puff for polishing!!
But then I am the one who goes out to work all day. They are the ones who lounge against the radiator all day. So there is one measure of intelligence.
