HI and hello. I am another new researcher and I have been looking at the "Who's Online" section as part of the way I have been navigating this Immense, enormous thing they callh2g2.
So I look at a nickname, click on it to go to a homepage, and contribute if I feel it's worthwhile.
But there must be thousands of ways of working in here, well, make that "many".
As I see it, an "Ace" or higher from h2g2 will see that you have arrived and welcome you to this space.
Other researchers will also see you and pop by to say hello, like me, but I've only been here a week, I'm only replying to this as I've just been though all this myself.
Visit home pages and follow contributions, just jump in, seems to be the best thing to do.
Gotta go now, so maybe meet you in another conversation somewhere.

bye

Sad, Mad or Bad? - I always wanted to be a dino, but alas, I'm just old.

Hi, I'm Sad Mad or Bad, Guardian Angel. We're an unofficial group, who aim to complement the services provided by the ACEs (the guide's official meeters and greeters) and here to help you out should you need it. Feel free to call on us should you need some help. http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A467606 You can even request your own guardian angel at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F57543?thread=100748 Some useful pages to visit: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/smiley gives you the code for all the smileys :-) http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A214796 The ACEs home page http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/GuideML-Clinic is the guide ML clinic; a useful place to learn about the mark-up language of the guide. http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A270325 the overwhelmingly huge guide to h2g2 clubs. Got your little welcome and it's greatly appreciated.
When I get the time, I will pop over to your homepage and find out the ins and outs of why you're St. Sad.....etc.
It's Saturday morning in my part of the Galaxy, well, it's not that I own it, of course, but I shortly have to go and muck out some horses, feed the dogs, all the usual sort of saturday things as well, so I may get back tonight for some interacting.
I was just jumpimg in and saying hello as people were arriving and nobody seemed to notice, but I'm trying to refrain from that now, I see a new face on platform 42 this morning, but I'm going to leave them alone and let the normal process take it's course.
Nearly 10 am and gotta move on.
Thanks again.
bye...

You're welcome! smiley - smiley

I've been checking up, and people seem to be catching up and making sure new people feel at home, but it's great you're popping over to say hi too; it's great to see people making other people feel welcome! smiley - biggrin It doesn't matter if you're new or not; people appreciate you saying hello.

And you're very welcome to pop over and say hi. There are a bunch of silly things to do from my user space, and you're welcome to try some of them, or just to hang out and have a smiley - bubbly (or whatever you fancy)

It's Saturday evening here; and my kids are happily anticipating the arrival of the Easter Bunny. smiley - bunny

have to confess that i started feeling bad about jumping in to welcome new arrivals, when
(a) I'm only new here,
(b) You guys can do it so much better with the links etc.
(c) It mean't I wasn't doing the exploring bits that I should have been,
(d) I thought I would be hung drawn and censured for doing someone elses job.

Anyway, Easter is now over here, we had a non traditional event here, for our part of the galaxy that is, nobody got an easter egg, and we had fish and chips instead of whatever we were supposed to have, (something special ).
Hope your easter bunny got there intact,
Gotta go, someone' complaining about the phone bill, and it's me.....
There's discussion on my page about this, I will sort it out as soon as I can, just gotta get round to it.....

bye....

I think the more people that welcome the better; I think I had four or five people drop in on me when I first got here, and it was nice to meet so many people! And just as long as you follow the T&Cs, there's nothing that you HAVE to do while you're here. Meet people, have fun! Write entries, or just hang around to chat. smiley - smiley

It's good if somebody drops in who DOES know the links, but I'm all for other people dropping in. smiley - smiley

The smiley - bunny arrived without any trouble and the kids were thrilled! smiley - smiley I hope you manage to sort out your phone bill.

The phone bill saga runs and runs, trying to change to a surf time package has been poo-poo'd, and I seem to be stuck on a 1p per minute tarrif, I will try again during the week to get it changed, but until then will spnd less time online.
Back soon as I can,
bye....
