A Conversation for Fids and Marline Spikes
does anybody know where I might get one?

I've looked at several of the (somewhat) local marina's and boating supply houses here in North Carolina, but have only been able to find the cheap-o plastic versions of these venerable tools. Does anybody know of a store (preferably in NC or the southeast USA) or mail-order that has a stand-alone marlinspike (stainless or carbon steel) for sale? Any help would be appreciated.
