On your page it says "abstract hiphop". I think this prooves a point of mine that hiphop fans are ignorant and belive their genre to be the best. It isn't. It's one of many brilliant genres around. If I'm honest there are as many bland hiphop artists as thier are bland rock artsists. The moose doesn't like hiphop. I'm not a big fan but I own 2 Public Enemy albums and a few other hiphop orientated albums.

what is abstract hiphop?

*Cough Cough!*
wheresmymango, have you even heard of Audio Karate, Vandals, Tsunami Bomb, Tuuli, mi6 or The Ataris? Obviously not. Fine, Starsailor and Coldplay are slightly on the mellow side, but my personal view is that HipHop would make me want to kill myself, it's all about taste. You obviously don't have any.... smiley - biggrin

can i just ask 1 question? after writing your article "music to kill yourself to" did you go and systomatically hunt down every researcher who likes these kinds of music and insult them? or am i the lucky one who gets the full front of your hatred?

in response to the question "What is abstract Hip-Hop?":

I guess it’s most easily described at the point at which Jazz and Hip-Hop collide in a shower of sparks. Those sparks hit cones in speakers and make the rasping sounds of a thousand robots killing each other to win the heart of a toaster who is all wired in and ready to singe.

It is poetry in the traditional sense, not the “rap” sense (don’t get me started on how much rap sucks, and how much hip-hop rocks), with meaning and flow over beats crafted and dug by people who do it for love first, money second. It’s put out on labels that are started by artists rather than venture capitalists, and listened to by people who would rather be in a club or house with their friends that out on the street setting fire to stuff. Intelligent music for intelligent people.

Go out and buy the following two albums (the most accessible and successful of the genre):

- El-P (Fantastic Damage)
- RJD2 (Deadringer)

Sorry but you've just prooven my theory that some ska punk fans are just as ignorant as some hiphop fans. Hip Hop rules as does ska punk.

Hiphop is my new favourite genre but that doesn't mean punk rock doesn't still kickass.

Some hip hop is better than some ska punk and some ska punk is better than some hip hop.

No, we need moe crus like Apsects, doing it well for a local audience. I can go out anywhere in the UK, and see different hip-hop acts, areas have their own styles.

What we need is LESS acts like Psalmestry. Religious hip-hop/metal cross-over toss fronted by a geography teachers. Been forced to see them twice. Would rather eat poo.
