It is notoriously difficult to sex a badger, whether it is rabid or not. Apparently it's the cows that are giving the badgers TB, not the other way around.

>>It is notoriously difficult to sex a badger
Well they can be pretty vicious and the have been known to attack people and give them a nasty bite.

What would cause a badger to attack someone?

The_Apple_Woman...being conscientious & objective Posted May 19, 2007
Why would you want to badger a badger if they are vicious?
I should imagine they are only vicious if you annoy them.
I don't know much about badgers.
I was asking T.B.

Woah there FF, slow down I've juxt waxed the floor!!!!!
Firstly, Mrs A. you came across as being a bit rude there, I don't know if maybe English isn't your first language or if you meant to be rude or what but please try and remember that there's no such thing as tone of voice or body language on the internet so things can easily seem rude and offensive when they're not meant to be. This can lead to people getting angry and worked up over nothing.
Secondly badgers, at this time of year especially, can get extremely protective if they've got cubs. The cubs may still be in the sett but if a mother/father badger thinks that you are in any way a threat they will attack first and not bother warning you. Badgers are exceedingly bad tempered...but they can also be very friendly.

When you have been spending the past 5 years on these boards poncing about you would come across a bit rude. There are a lot of rude people around these days. They have very little respect.
If I appeared rude, I apologise. I didn't mean to be.

That's alright, I didn't think you meant to be rude. Also I've been on here, in this guise, for over 6 years and had another acount for about a year before that I'm one of the elder, in h2g2 years, researchers and yes, occasionally, I come across as quite rude, but that normally only happens if I get really annoyed.

Perhaps, if in a bad mood, the irritation shows through.
Thanks for telling me about the badgers.
It has thrown a little light on the subject for me now
