I was working on a photo earlier, for putting on dA and stuff, and when I'd finished I saved it, as you do. However it took ages to saveso I thought I better check just how big it was... it was 1.34 Gb!!!!!! I'm gonna resize it befor I post it on dA...and I'll stick it on a DVD for long term storage.

How is that even possible? More pertinently, how could you ever display it without losing most of the information stored, unless you have an absolutely enormous screen?

I think it's that big because it's got all the raw data about the photo in that file. I did a 2/3 size version which was only about 200mb in size, plus they're save as compressionless Tiffs. I can display it at 25% of the size across 2 screens and I don't then have to move it about too much to see all the different bits.
