Dutch university "fires" 8000 employees by e-mail.
the e-mail was not the actual dismissal, because they were no longer employed by the university they could not keep the university e-mail address. some employees reacted worried and others wished success with cleaning up this e-mess.

I am sorry that the tree is being cut down. sorry about the the thousands of employees who are being dismissed. If they are, surely it stand to reason that they cannot use the email of the University.?

no one was fired. it was an error by some one who maintained the computers at university. the university could not exist without these 8000 employees!

may be I was not completely clear...I thought by putting "fires" in quotes is would be clear that they were not fired.
