The leg brace of faith
LadyAstrid, a happy dolphin Started conversation Mar 9, 2003
I've been fitted with a new AFO. I couldnt tell you what the letters standfor, but I can tell you what it means. It means that I can once again walk (relatively) with the proper walking motion. An AFO is a plastic brace that helps stop my 'foot-drop' problem.
I'm finding my whole body is responding to my use of the brace. It doesnt just stop my foot from 'dropping', it stops me from having to use a different set of muscles to left my whole left leg while walking.
Now with the foot brace, I can go back to using the muscles that are meant to be used while walking... the hamstrings and quads, and a few others. It means I have enough energy to get through my day...
It means that I have faith that life is not over for me.

Of course it isn't over.
You can't lose it that easily.
I won't let you!
