Goodbye Douglas Adams!
Loved your work...

Douglas Adams was loved by many here in Australia.

I remember watching HHGTTG when It was first shown on TV here in Australia on the ABC. I must of been about 6 years old and it has been my favorite ever since. I love all his books. He was a true visionary.

Damn It!!! We will miss him. But never forget him...

Do you know, it takes an incredible amount of courage to stop thinking about writing something, and actually doing it?

Douglas Adams didn't just think about the Hitchhiker's Guide, he actually sat down and wrote it, and brought lots of people around the world a lot of entertainment, thought provocation, discussion, and community.

And look at what DNA has created! Amazing places! And this amazing h2g2 community has come from it, where people can write and be silly, vociferous, intellectual, barmy, and have a lot of fun.

I was playing the text-based HHGTTG game only last Friday, and having a riotous time remembering how 14 years ago I couldn't get off the Vogon ship! And I'll still play it, and marvel at the creative genius of this incredible human being.

If you are thinking of writing something, then do it! And be yourself, develop your own style. There will never be another Douglas Adams, but let him inspire us to put our stories into words and write.

Douglas Adams, he will always be remembered in this corner of a mostly harmless planet

To those who've read The Guide, you will understand my incredible sorrow at the passing of a great man with a great mind. Of all the people in the world, he is one of the only I would have done anything to meet! Of course I wouldn't have had anything to say, but I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

I give my heartfelt condolences to Mrs Adams. Even though I am but a disembodied voice on the internet, my heart goes out to her!

My boss (who just interrupted this message) would also like to add his appreciation for Douglas Adams!

Andrew Mahony (Sydney, Australia)

Sad, Mad or Bad? - I always wanted to be a dino, but alas, I'm just old.

There's nothing I can say that will make everything OK again; but I would like DNA's family to know that we cry with them. You are in my thoughts.

smiley - rose
