Well I wasn't going to review this as I've never seen the programme.
But it's sad when no-one goes to read an entry so here is my review.
I hope you can take constructive criticism, Researcher PSG!
cleverly not cleaverly;
"there" was no clean definitive - not "their";
immortality not imortality;
"their" life not "there life";
In the description of Mike Oldfielf, what is "C.I.B."? and the "He" is mid-sentence sho should be a small case "h".
In Kirsty:
Jack's "fiancee" sounds better than bride to be.
And Jack requires a capital "J".
You need to put a gap between "alot" as it's two separate words.
In "Frances", equipped not equiped;
invisible is spelt wrong.
imagery not imagry.
"Their effect on Humans" not "There";
"They don't take too much"....what?
"It leaves victims highly SUSceptible" needs more clarification.
Footnote 2: retractable.
The subheader "How they seen": should that be how they see? of how they are seen?
I will watch out for this programme and try & watch an episode.

I did watch this, and loved it GBs spelling is a good thing to do, but the sub-eds can sort this out However, I would remove the 'But they are still evil....' sentance - in case someone hasn't seen it, do not want to give to much away. Explain how it got a decent timeslot on Ch4, by not mentioning vampires at all. It was always CodeV, or leech, and this stopped any of the 'Angel' shennanigans - ie it was slotted for an adult audience, rather than anything fantasy/sci-fi which is buried early in the morning, or has to be twee enough to fit a 6pm timeslot Grrrrrr, another thing which raises my hackles - Ch4 and its treatment of any number of good shows Sorry back to the review. Ultraviolet has been taken over to the US, but it looks like they are going to gut it of any edge, turn it into an everyday fight against vampires - they are evil, we are good, and we have the busty blonde women to prove it, style of thing - I will have a shuftey through SFX to see if I can get anything more concrete A quick episode synopsis might nice, breif enough to give a clue about what happens, but not give anything away No doubt I will be back here, if I think of anything more This is an excellent Entry and I would have thought it should cruise through Peer Review Good going, until later....

Oh and moderator, put back the URL, go on, you know you want to - it isn't in a fora, it is in an Entry - I wont to know who makes these DVDs. Cheers

Oh, I beg your pardon.
I thought it was the job of the people at Peer Review to point out mistakes?
Then you can correct them in your entry, then your entry gets picked up quicker by the Scouts, as there isn't so much work to do for the sub-eds.
Or have I got that entirely wrong?

No, that is technically correct, but things like spelling and formatting do not put me off from recommending an Entry for inclusion in the Edited Guide. Also, I want researchers to write more stuff - which they may not do after metaphysically being hauled out in front of the class for poor spelling - which may be through dyslexia, or no fault of their own More important, well I think so, is the structure, the tone, is there anything else which should, or could, go in an Entry. With your skills, GB, you should be a SubEd, you would be ace I find that making sure the spelling is correct is the most difficult part of Subbing Well, just my £0.02 Until later....

One thing missing from the vampire definitions - the rather violent reaction when they are "neutralised". One of the more amusing aspects of the show I always thought, and came in useful later in the series (can't remember the exact episode).
Maybe the tone of the show could also be mentioned. Buffy is, well, Buffy, most other vamp shows/films are full-on Gothic. UV is just incredibly understated (probably why the Americans want to re-make it, grrr)

Right thanks everybody, I am currently planning the re-writes they should be in place soon.
I'll Just point out the DVD is on general release(UK) and can be got from or ordered from any DVD shop.
This isn't an advert only a fact, ok?
Thanks again for the input.

Not a bad article, although I do agree that short episode synopsis would be nice. Also the fact they blow up, as, if nothing else, it was cool. I have it on video and really enjoy it, mostly because it is a lot more understated than the Buffys of this world.
Oh, and you ought to mention that they are never called vampires.

And consequently got screened at a decent timeslot, rather than 6pm.

I think it could do with a character synopsis on some of the leeches, especially the one played by Corin Redgrave.
Also, maybe refer to the fact that the leeches keep teasing the priest about how they could sort out his 'problem' for him.
I agree it's difficult to put much about what's good about the series without giving the game away somewhat.
Also, Susannah Harker's a babe.

A few points:
I despise you and all your works for writing this article when I'm halfway through mine. ;-p Oh well. Yours is certainly less rambling than mine.
It's Mike Coldfield; Mike Oldfield composed Tubular Bells
It may be worth explaining that CIB is the Police Complaints Investigations Bureau; I don't know how many people would know that, especially outside England. I do know that Kult TV use it as the name of the unit in all of their synopses on the videos.
It might be worth mentioning that the leeches claim that the unit is affiliated with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the modern form of the Holy Inquisition. If it doesn't break the rules, I can give you the URL for the Congregation on the Vatican web server.
(Genus) Code V is not 'phi' but 'five', the Latin numeral V (for vampire I suppose).
I agree with GB that 'Susceptible to suggestion' would be more helpful than just 'susceptible'.
A Code V can be neutralised by the introduction of carbon to the chest cavity or exposure to direct sunlight.
UV light is uncomfortable but not harmful, and they are allergic to allicin, a chemical found in garlic.
The effectiveness of religious symbols seems to rely on the beliefs of the one using them, and on the vampire they are used against.
I think you need more on the unit's hardware (the reflector-cams, the slider-spiker stake, the wood-chip shrapnel grenades, allicin tear-gas, carbon bullets et al); the use of technology - on both sides - was a major part of the show.
Other than that, a pretty solid article.
The Prophet.
