h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

My dad has now finished the first course of chemotherapy. Yesterday he went for a scan and today to see the doctor. Well the news is very good! Most of the cancer metastases ... those in his lymph nodes, pericardium, and sternum ... are gone now. Only the spots on his liver and the metastasis in his prostrate still remain, but they are *much* reduced.

The doctor said my dad will now do another course of chemo to see if the cancer can be got rid of entirely!

At any rate ... I am *very* grateful my dad's still around, 5 months after the initial diagnosis. He's been handling the chemotherapy exceptionally well. The only problem was tiredness, and gout-like symptoms in his left foot. He's quite willing to face this next course of chemo.
