Mammal-like Reptiles of South Africa Part Three

Post 1

Willem

The first pictures are here:

http://good-times.webshots.com/album/564182200DBCKFn

These illustrations are of only one of the groups of mammal-like reptiles, the Dinocephalians. They're watercolour paintings.

I don't know why these albums are under the 'good times' sections of Webshots! At any rate they might not quite fit in with the other pictures there ... though I must say, I personally consider the Permian period (299 to 251 million years ago) to have been quite good times!

smiley - laugh "Permian period (299 to 251 million years ago) to have been quite good times!"

Go on, why? I think when the earth was a warm sea must have been a quite good time.

Good illustrations - they're based on your imagination around bone records?

Hey Waz! How are things? Yes I think times were good back then ... one giant ocean, one giant continent with giant forests, giant mountains, giant deserts, and all these weird things everywhere ... a kind of 'innocence' of life, not quite as competitive as today, all sorts of biological and evolutionary experiments going on ...

The illustrations are based on bones, yes ... well, illustrations and photos of the bones ... also other people's reconstructions, and my own imagination of how these things might have looked.

Things are good smiley - smiley. I owe you an email, I shall answer your latest when I get back from holiday. Life's a bit crowded just now.

It's odd to think so many things used to be on a such a larger scale. We're large scale to our insect life, perhaps we'll turn out to be dinosaurs too!

Hello Waz and Websailor! Waz happy to hear things are good, hoping you enjoy your holidays. Websailor, I hope you manage to read this stuff! I read a lot on my computer screen, but it is not very relaxing ... can't take my computer and read in bed! I like reading stuff printed on paper as well.

Anyways ... don't anyone else like my mammal-like-reptile paintings?

So sorry my dear Willem,

I loved them, but did not realise that you had actually done them yourself until I read it in Waz.s note to you. they look very amiable. I think I would have been scared stiff of them. !1

You are so talented.

With affection

Of course we like your paintings. They are very good and lifelike as they are based on bones etc. You certainly have a vivid imagination along with a lot of talent.

I will try and print off your posts soon. I seem to be behind with everything at the moment, but we now having pouring rain, thunder and lightning so I am hoping the air will be fresher tomorrow and I shall have more energy.

You are not forgotten, I am just swamped at the moment.
