A Conversation for Roman Catholicism

Actually Confirmation is best understood as the completition of Christian Initiation (for those baptized as infants) rather than as the opportunity for them to make the choice for Catholicism. Given the age of those who are confirmed--11 to 17, most of them are not in a position to make meaningful choice about their religious heritage since they are still under the authority of their parents.
I found the description of Roman Catholicism more about surfaces rather than about the depths of our heritage. For example, we do believe that the celebration of the sacraments makes us one with Christ and it is that union with Christ that is the whole point. When we are thus united, we become more like Christ and then are truely his hands and heart and mind in the world in which we live.
