Gull attack!

Post 1

I've just been majorly harassed by a bloody seagull after parking my car at work this morning. It must have a chick there or something. After yelling at me and dive bombing me for the first 200 years towards my building though it was noticeably keeping out of range of a swing of my briefcase. I was braced for doing that at least twice though. Horrible creatures gulls.

It attacked you for 200 years? Golly, you must move slower than a snail in syrup to take that long to get to the office smiley - tongueout

Seagulls *can* be quite scary though - and big!smiley - yikes

Crow are the bully boys around here , yesterday I watched one land and run straight at a Grey Heron which did fly away quickly then today in my garden, two crows landed behind a cat and started to have a go at it , I shouted and clapped my hands which made the Crows fly away, the cat was under a Mulberry tree and the Crows seem to think the fruit belongs to them and chase the other birds etc awaysmiley - sadface

smiley - silly

Well it seemed like 200 years but was more like 200 yards smiley - blush

At first I just thought it was just a noisy bird but after about the 4th swoop I realised it was trying to shoo me away. I did seriously consider going after it when it really started to annoy me.

I've heard of people being attacked for their chips by these things but I just had my briefcase, a sports bag and the clothes I was in. That's what make me think it was trying to defend a chick.
I was the only person around too which probably didn't help.

I'm not allowed in my own back garden at the moment. That's what at least one gull seems to think anyway. In this instance I happen to know for a fact that it is because it is defending its chick(s) as:

- They seem to like nesting in a niche on my roof between two chimneys. They've been doing it for years.

- There's an empty egg shell in my back yard beneath that roof.

- Er... There's a chewed chick in my back yard this morning. smiley - yuk (Perhaps it fell off last night, but I would have thought it was a bit young yet to be out of the nest at all.)
