I have to do a bit of research but the existentialist thing got me thinking about teacups... and the nature of conscious agents in order for the teacup to exist... Have you any thoughts on bubbles and reality?

Is this like the tree in the forest thing? smiley - winkeye
Bubbles and reality is kind of interesting... I have this mental model that was shown to me once by an old friend... it was this sort of crystalline structure composed of repeating units. Think fractals...or bubbles if they're you'r favorite repeating structure. Most of our conscious experience, he posited, is spent gliding along the surface of the entire structure.... but.... alot of "reality" is buried deep within the structure. The trick is to adjust one's perspective to access it.

that sounds like it needs following up! Can you get me a reference for that?
The bubbles thing is more of a vacancy thing. Much like reality being the surface(oh, how postmodern of me...) and the suspension between the bubbles, and the vacancy as a slip into the voids between the surfaces and suspension. Furhter to this maybe as you skate the skins of these bubbles your bubbles interact and join/assimilate/get assimilated by other peoples bubbles.

I rather like the notion of the effect of bubbles of reality interacting and altering one another in the process.... of course it resonates a bit with things like quantum mechanics and uncertainty principles and the like, but it makes for a good mental image smiley - winkeye Tell me more about this void... it screams of possibilities. Is this the nihilism of the existentialists or the "no mind" of the Buddhists? Or...?
