A Conversation for Eclipse

Everybody down here in Cornwall knows the eclipse is going to be a big let down.
The best way to look at it is this;
It's at 11:10 so the pubs will have only just opened. You can get the day off work on account of the "eclipse",get yourself into your local boozer, stick your head out of the door when it gets dark(you won't see anything else as it will be cloudy), and then when the event is over you can spend the rest of the day geting rat-arssed!
Eat your heart out Patrick Moore!!!!

You're completely right. The eclipse is just some stupid publicity thing. I mean, it goes dark every night, doesn't it?! Anyway, stay at home and see it without blinding yourself on the TV. Unless the stupd BBC don't want to film it in case their "camera men get hurt".

eclipses are neat/scary because all of a sudden it seems like someone blew out the light of the sun, sorta. and there are these odd things or even odd glasses that you're supposed to look at the sun with, but it is a lot easier just to take a glance up at the sun... and then to continue on your merry way.

That's the way to do it. D'ya have many eclipses over the US then?

i don't think so-
but there was one a couple years ago... there might be more than england- just because of the larger land mass....

In southern England you'll get 100% eclipse, up in northern england you'll get 75%. I live in the 95% area. How fun. We can't go anywhere for the next few days because of the traffic. What's so exciting about it? you won't even be allowed to look at it all... *squint squint oh s**t my eye *

keledy Posted Aug 7, 1999
why would there be trafic?
people rushing to see a 100%?
or rushing to go and hide in a cave?
The Eclipse

I'm scared i'm gonna turn into a geologist when i'm bigga

The Eclipse
Lisa the Freak // Poet by the Toga Posted Aug 10, 1999
i think they do.
we just done a chapter on rocks at school. it should have been boring, but oh, no. not ME. *I* don't find rocks boring at all. I have to be posh and interested, don't i?!
oh well. i hope it's just a phase.. it WILL pass...i hope.
I AM NOT GONNA BE A GEOLOGIST NO I AM NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, did you still think it was a let-down? I actually liked the fact that it was cloudy - meant that you weren't ruining your eyesight staring at the sun, and had to focus on experiencing, not looking.
I found it an awesome, humbling experience.
