Hi Gin Tonyx,

Sorry about this mass-posting, but I've just taken over the reins of h2g2 University from Peta, and thought it might be an idea to visit the current projects and get a feel for how they're coming along. This is mostly to familiarise myself with the scope of the task I've taken on, but also to make Mark think I'm being industrious. smiley - winkeye

And I definitely don't mean to be putting on any pressure to finish, or anything like that - we like to get projects when they're ready, not if they're rushed. It's really just to help me get the general h2g2 University picture. Honest. smiley - smiley

So, how's your project 'Use and Abuse of Gin' coming along?

I currently checking up myself. Been away from the net for a while... I'm afraid there is very little help from researchers other than me. There are about 5 that ever wrote anything more than "cool project". So since I don't have too much time on my hands either I'll ask for another Rupert again to get back on track of the other things in my life besides h2g2 and then focus back on my project. - No, just kidding. Don't call Rupert again.
So that's basically where my project is standing. (still.) (standing still not still standing).

Hi GynTonyx,

Thanks for your feedback - sorry your project's not thriving as much as you'd like, but glad you're getting some quality Real Life in there. smiley - smiley

Let us know when you think you might have your project back up - I'll include you on the 'Current Projects' page which I'm currently revamping, so you might get some more interest from others.

smiley - cheers

I am not holding it down, you know. I just come by occasionally and see if someone dropped me a line. If there is something to include or something interesting to investigate then I'll look after it - more or less right away.

Hmmm - are you sure that it'll ever get finished that way? We wouldn't want it to languish indefinitely - it'll never get published, which would be a shame.

Could you not polish it off yourself - after all, it's your project.

Well, I had thought that a University Project called for some teamwork. The way it looks I guess the team is mostly me. At least now - in the past there really has been some large contribution from others... I am already thinking about it... polishing it up... What exactly do you mean by polishing it up? Like finish up with what is there already? I think it's not enough "stuff" really. It's a little thin. I think there ought to be more, especially on the aspect of the (ab)users - people who openly admit they drink (too much) Gin. Shouldn't there be more than two? I have no clue where to obtain information about that from.

And then I still don't have a Sub-Ed. Don't I need one to complete the project? At least I need someone to look at the wording and have a little discussion about that. I mean, not everything is sharp and pointy. I really need some assistance...

I understand, of course you would like the project to be completed asap. On the other hand I have a paper to complete for my real-life university. You know my priorities? Take wild a guess... (-; And I am pretty confident that eventually I'll get it finished. I am just not frustrated enough yet to do it by myself. I think that point will come. Unless of course I have a really striking idea where to motivate a crowd for my subject and then it will be finished in notime. BTW: Of course it's my project - I thought I am the coordinator and the writing comes from others. At least that's how you get your PHD in Germany...

Conclusion: it will not be the University-of-Life-Project-the-Indefinitely-Prolonged (before that the Internet will collapse anyway or the Vogons pass by for a quick bypass)! This project will be completed before the Vogons are here. Promise.

I hope you can live with that.

LOL - "People of h2g2 University, your attention please..." smiley - biggrin

Don't worry - your real-life priorities are, of course, far more important. I'm sure you'll get the project finished - it seems gin means a lot to you (I know it means a lot to me!). And ASAP is not really realistic for University projects: we like them when the author thinks they're ready, not before.

As far as writing goes, the only requirement is that you write at least two or three pages yourself - it's not just about co-ordinating others, although that's certainly a part of it.

Have fun with it, though - that's the most important thing.

I have been away a long time, what? Well I am only back for a short while this time also, but I have an idea:
I'll take the pages home with me and rework them at home... I won't promise anything, but I think I ought to finish the project. Whether it will be something great or not.
I bet something really valuable that you agree...
