A Conversation for Stone Field Sculpture
Vandalizing or Improvement:: Carl Andre

Carl Andre created a public artwork in Hartford, Conecticut in the seventies. It's called Stone Field Sculputre, and comprises boulders ranging from 1,000 pounds to 10 tons. It is being threatened with "Improvement" by the designers called IQuilt, who have made a proposal to "rearrange some of the stones, and run water through a portion of Stone Field." Is this acceptable? It seems that public art should be protected, respected and left intact for future generations.
Any comments?
