Hi there! I'm androyd one of the Assistant Community Editors who have volunteered to help new members. Welcome to the largest collaborative writing project er...anywhere. Take a look at some guide entries and see if you can add to the collection. If you feel there is a subject you can write about try doing a search first to see what already exists. I recommend you visit here before you get going:
http://www.h2g2.com/Writing-Guidelines
Also I don't know if you've realised it yet, but the guide is about more than guide entries. Try these links to make new friends or even get a virtual job. I did.

Bless you for your recognition of my new incarnation. I have left my mac and adsl connection and have been gone two weeks now. I am happy to be back and will be using this computer until things are better.
I hope I will be allowed to do this, everytime I make a posting it tells me to Unsubscribe. Does this mean that they are not getting posted. I used my same password when I re-registered. Help! Should I contact a guardian angel, guru or God?
Thanking you for your consideration in advance, I am sincerely yours,
with Worlds of Love,

They are getting posted , the unsubscribe button just means that if you lose interest in a thread or it peters out you can remove it from your list. SO its not a command just a helpful suggestion. Does that clear things up?

In answer to your questions about help in general... Aces are the 'official' helpers and greeters as are gurus and scouts, the angels are doing much the same thing in an 'unofficial' capacity. So if you want the view from the editorial side of the site come to us, if you want a more 'independant ' view of things, ask an angel. Does that make things any clearer?

If you visit the h2g2 soapbox fora you will see a series of healthy debates about how the site should be run, what directions it is taking and so forth.

I must warn you that some of the comments there are quite forthright and generally on site people are much nicer to one another, but it will give you a flavour of some of the current issues in this community. A link? No, use the search engine, it will help you get more familiar with the site to find your own way around. smiley - cool
