Here is something I've written about the Chinese martial art, Pa Kua Chang. Let me know what you think. I can expand on it if anyone's interested.

Interesting stuff. I must confess I have never heard of this before. In what way was it originally used ? In war, on the battlefield - or in some kind of ceremonial combat ?

A few other thoughts:

The reference to 'triagrams' and 'hexagrams' is a little confusing. Perhaps a footnote here might be in order.

You talk of 64 postures, then say 'added to these palm movements...' So: 64 palm movements ? Is this type of fighting centred on hand movements alone or are other parts of the body employed ?

Also: it might be worth incorporating the 'otherwise known as...' bit into the first sentence proper. 'Pa Kua Chang, otherwise known as...'

Hope that helps. smiley - smiley

That makes it a lot clearer.

This is a very good article, by the way. I doubt it will have any problem getting in to the Edited Guide. smiley - smiley

One last (very minor point): the footnotes in edited entries are normally numbered (1, 2, 3) rather than starred (*,**,***). This will be changed when the entry is converted to GuideML anyway so it is nothing to worry about.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot! I knew about the numbered footnotes thing, but didn't know how to put that in just using text. Next time should I just put the number next to the word like1 this?....or maybe I should just continue learning html.

Why not ? Or in brackets, maybe: (1)

If you do want to have a go at GuideML, here's a quick overview:

Start the article with:
Finish it with:

Paragraphs begin: and end: .

Italics and bold text are written: ...text... and: ...text...

Headings and subheadings are enclosed in ...text... or ...text....

As for footnotes, these are placed in the relevant part of the textLike this. The numbers will be generated automatically, and the text between the two sets of brackets will appear at the bottom of the page.

Hope that makes sense.

John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!"

Interesting stuff! To create your own numbered footnotes all you need to do is put your comment between tags (You must select the GuideML option first, of course). It's worth learning about, because it gives you that little bit more creative input... and it's very easy. Have a look at the clinic:

Guess what ? This article has been submitted to the Editors and they liked it just as much as I did. It has now gone forward to become a part of the edited guide.

Congratulations! smiley - smiley

It will probably take a while to work its way through the system, what with the subbing and everything, but not to worry: you'll be sent an email when it's about to appear.

Keep up the good work!
