The man who more than 2,500 years ago in India came to be known as the Buddha gave up a kingdom and left wife and child because he was suffering from 'the boredom of a fine mind looking for employment' (H.G.Wells). Whilst there is no doubt a deal of truth in this wise witticism, the Buddha never succeeded in finding employment. Instead, after six years of trial and error, during which he nearly starved himself to death, he eventually became 'Nirvanised' - became able to dwell in a state of perfect knowledge of the way things are - a state which he never lost and which he succeeded in communicating to many thousands of followers young and old, male and female, rich and poor. He also exemplified to perfection for the rest of his life, the results of being Nirvanised - irrepressible energy, great wisdom, humour, compassion, and appreciation of beauty. And incidentally, he showed the path any human being could tread from suffering to happiness.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Jun 2, 2004
NewAdam, this piece of writing is not suitable for submission to Peer Review. Would I be right in guessing that you haven't been around here too long and have yet to get the hang of things?
Here's an entry about Siddhartha A2163205 That's the kind if entry we're looking for in the Edited Guide.
Why not write an entry about Buddhism yourself instead of submitting someone else's? Before you do, please - I mean PLEASE - read this Writing-Guidelines and this Writing-Beginners first.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
