Entry: Torture in the Dark Ages - A441604
Author: Nockers - U150979
Despite the name on the account - this was written by me. Nockers is an account that I set up for some role-playing. I can't change the name, as otherwise I'll forget the log in name, but please treat as if it's me! If this gets into the Guide I'll ask the Eds to change the U number on it.
Anyway, I started writing this, then stopped because this - A453296 appeared on the Front Page within weeks and it made me feel funny to be writing about a hobby/interest when there were real people out there being tortured. It just got left abandoned, but I think enough time has passed that I don'd mind trying again.
I'd rather not add to many more forms of nasty torture to this (there are too many) but I do think that it needs a bit more work.
Any help, advice or tips?

Possibly a bit of contextual info? Typical reasons for finding oneself being tortured in the Dark Ages, what sort of lives the torturers lived (e.g. social status) -- that kind of thing.

Okay, maybe not the second point... I think what I was trying to get at was that at present it seems a bit clinical. What sort of effects did these tortures have; why would a torturer choose one over another? Are there any historical accounts to draw on?

I should specify -- _psychological_ effects. Presently the emphasis seems to be almost entirely on the physical side of thngs.

I'm not ignoring you - I've been thinking. There was a programme on the tv about torture the other night, and it's put me off a bit again.
But I am taking notice, and I will add some more to this entry eventually.
