Hey, you live in Bangor / Belfast? Well, I just wanted to say hello as I used to live in that Camphill Place right next to Seahill Station for one year.
Btw I am also studying mechanical engineering (but still I don't know a lot about all that technical stuff).
Anyway have a really nice time and have a guiness for me smiley - stout!

You know, I really want you to know, that I know, that you should know, that I definetly know that I am really sorry that "know" didn't appeare one single time in my first posting. smiley - smiley
(Although I don't really know how to spell definetly properly.)

Now I know that the no. of times you used know in your first note was none.

I also know not much about the technical stuff although stormy weather is pretty cool. I spent a month working in an American camp in Wisconsin this summer and quite enjoyed sleeping in a tent 6 feet above the edge of a lake with at least 1 lightningfest a week.
Or travelling in a car at 100mph at midnight with lightening 360 degs around me and no rain. Pretty cool.

How come you're in Germany now?

Have a nice cup of tea smiley - coffee and say hi to Brian.

Oh there you are. Well first of all something from Brian for you, as it is dec 6th today and therefore Nikolaus-day in Germany: smiley - gift
Brian was really very happy to hear you thought of him, so he spend hours to think of a Nikolaus-present for you!
Well I came back to study in Germany because...ehrm...well in the first place I am German and then secondly you don't have to pay for your studies here... but I am not planning to stay here for the rest of my days (that's what I know!). They offered me a scholarship for an US university, the only trouble was that this particular university doesn't offer any technic or science courses (how very suitable for an engineering student), so I dropped that. Right now I am thinking of going to Delhi (India) for one ore two semesters...we'll see.
Everthing fine up there in the North?
You know the one very nice thing about your uni is, that it's right next to the botanic gardens ... ok,ok, might be a bit cold to hang around there at the moment, but it's very nice in the summer, isn't it?

This is true, the Botanic gardens are a fine sight on a lovely summer day - about twice a year then.

Why were you in Northern Ireland? It seems strange that you would have lived here, but then again that is coming from a Northern Irish perspective.
Tell Brian 'thank you very much' for his present. It was most thoughtful smiley - ok. Happy Nikolaus-day. My brother is called Nicholas.

I have to get to a lecture now, so goodbye.

I was doing voluntary work with people in special needs (I don't know whether you know Camphill Glencraig is right down the road from Seahill station on the Bangor line...). I just wanted to take a year off after school, go abroad, do some social stuff... I had some places to go in England, Scotland and Ireland, too, but somehow I liked the description of the one in Holywood best...that's how I got there.
Anyway I really think that people miss something when they go to Ireland and skip Northern Ireland, there are some beautiful spots, too... (Guess it all looks a bit different, when you're from there)
There's just one thing about Britain and Ireland you can hardly do anything after eleven o'clock (except of parties of course)...and that usually ends up in terribly drunken people at a time when you just start your evening in Germany. I guess people just want to drink as much as here in a shorter period of time.
How long have you been studying now?

P.S.: Don't fall asleep in your lecture smiley - smiley

I'm about half way through my second year at Uni.

This is somthing really weird that everyone seems to think about Britain. I hardly ever go out before 11 pm. All the pubs and bars I know oen till 1.00 or 1.30 in the morning. Last night I left the pub at 1am. I dont understand why other people do not seem to realise this.

More lectures now. How long have you been studying?

Bye

Well probably you just get to know the right places when you're a local. smiley - smiley When I lived in Holywood we only knew two places in places that would be open really late... And there was nothing where you could go in the early morning hours, but well you don't have that in all German places either. But it is true that people in Belfast were already drunk quite early in the evenings.
I am in the 3rd semester now, that means I am going to have my "pre-diploma" at the end of this. I am at a university of applied sciences so that means right now I have to do a practical semester in industry, so no lectures.
Enjoy yours!
