You can call me TC

My office is in the middle of the building (I described it recently) So I don't have a window - just a skylight.

Today is a sweltering hot early summer day. We have had thunder and lightning (right overhead - simultaneous thunder and flashes!) and for the past five minutes (just before 5 pm) it has been hailing hailstones the size of table-tennis balls. It came so quick that the automatic closing mechanism - activated by sensors on the roof - didn't shut the skylight on time. Hailstones on my desk - papers wet, the floor is covered in them!

As I finish writing this journal, it's all quiet again, stifling hot and stuffy (I shut the window, remember) and the sun is shining outside.

Sitting here late at night, still all sticky and yucky.

Mind you, that might be the chocolate cake I've just baked. Courtesy of Dr. A.

That cake recipe looked so good that I wanted to ask if you'd like to include it in the Entry going through Peer Review at the moment DrAnthea. It's an update of a simple brownie recipe - but I am sure this one of yours would fit in really well. I could amend the title a little. Its here: A87759346

It's certainly simple. I've baked it and iced it, and will be taking some to work today.

Which reminds me - I ought to go!

It went down well. I cut it into one-inch cubes, because it was very sweet. More like petit-fours.

To suit the German style, I halved the amounts for the topping. There was still a thick layer of it! I could have covered all six sides of all the cubes if I'd made the amount in the recipe.

Oh - and milk chocolate throughout was fine.

Comments from colleagues all positive. One boy in accounts said it was a little dry. That's probably because I switched the oven off and went to bed, as it was not quite done but I was tired last night. So it spent the night in the cooling-down oven, which I know I'm not supposed to do.

Whenever I make a cake it always takes far longer than in the recipe. This over several ovens in three decades.

Well I'm glad everyone liked it
I did mean to warn you that the topping is especially sweet and thick,
smiley - smiley I thought the milk chocolate would work ok perhaps thats why it was sweeter though smiley - erm
