I can't imagine how I forgot to mention this before. At the end of November /beginning of December, I got an e-mail from an ex-hootooer. He lives near me so we had some contact in the past, in fact we met up two or three times. It was "Engländer" (U168814 or U124393 - he deleted everything before he left, and some of the stuff was in German, so it's still hidden)
Anyway, he wrote that he has now re-married and settled near here and does a pub quiz on the first Tuesday of every month at an Irish pub nearby.
The news came at rather too short notice to drum up a team for the December quiz, and the January date was very near New Year, with road conditions questionable. So for February or March I shall gather some friends or family around me to make a team and will let you all know how it was.

Is Engländer German or has he been living in Germany so long his English grammar has gone Teutonic? Happened to my brother-in-law.
