Hm, there is that. And he's a rather delicate thing. You know, he has a shell and all that. Useful, really for an egg. It keeps his insides in and everything!

He enjoyed the joke! I almost thought he was going to laugh, until he remembered how much he missed Brian and... well, as you see, he's still crying.
Poor Jerome. 
And re: the girls, well, thank you! I can't EXACTLY claim the credit for it. It's a thinly veiled reference to the Powerpuff Girls. You can see them at:

Well, I guess with Jerome even the slightest almost-laugh is a step in the right direction...

Well that's probably true. But he was sad before, so maybe he came from a broken home, and besides, here he has his very own forum to cheer him up!
What more could an egg want? 
And the girls will come and try to cheer him up when they get back from the keeper's party.
