Rock Lobster

Word game consisting of two teams calling out London Underground Station names in no particular order, which are then discussed for there proximity, name order, merit and humour. If the name does not comply with any of the aforementioned then that person is out. The winner is the person who, for no apparent reason, calls out Mornington Crescent, after a suitable period of time has alapsed.
Best game ever invented!

Rock Lobster has offered, if I'm not mistaken, the Brown Bag rules first instituted under the IC046-x program, a little spoken of NASA project which attempted to implement the Game of Mornington Cres. on an IBM Big Blue.

Naturally results were mixed, due to the limitations of contemporary non neutrally modelled AI (see thread 'Artificial Intelligence').

Human rules are many and varied, and it is advised that the novice enter the game at the most basic level (though perhaps making use of the Hague Bow), knowledge of which is best acquired through following examples:

Move 1: Hillingdon

Have you seen Hillingdon On-line? http://come.to/hillingdon

The next move, by the way is Ladbroke Grove and I declare no "retro moves" before Thursday.

Wait a minute, the cross-hatching at Holborn prevents MC from that direction, because you can't gain sufficient tokens for the cross-straddle without a much greater turn of speed.

I shall continue with Seven Sisters.

BTW, links to a number of excellent Mornington Crescent sites can be found at http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cg1?forum:576

Hooray, it works! Although you have to manually choose the topic "Mornington Crescent" from the list at the bottom.

That has three links to excellent MC gaming servers, and one to Mornington Nomic, which is like regular MC except that it has Actual Rules.

I'm Stimpling to Goodge Street.

Has anyone read the latest Newsletter from the IMCS about the transvers relationship between Chalk Farm and the Central line. It's quite fascinatint to note the vectoring of the line into triple hafts, thus infering the Moldovan Triple Back Slash maneuver to Chalk Farm. This usually raises becks to at least 5, but I once witnessed the great Shing Loc Bok Tunani pull this off with a becks of 8. talk about a route!

I've just been playing an interesting variant, using IRC servers instead of tube stations (Mornington Crescent = London.UK.EU)
Just type in /map on the mIRC bottom line for reference...

I haven't read the Newsletter ever since they got that new puzzle editor. Used to be they had /challenging/ problems, like "Starting at Holborn with LV 2, get to MC in three moves, using no more than one black and one white token. Northern line is backchecked, and there is a stage-2 Gravity Bock centered at Seven Sisters."

Now all they have is tripe like "Starting at Bank with LV 5, get to MC in one move, without striling. Euston is Blocked." Well, to anyone with a basic grasp of the rules, a Tunneling Inclusion is only too obvious. Where's the challenge in that? Piffle!

Since reverse Grundies don't count in the presence of a gravity block, an allocation of one move could actually take in six stations smiley - smiley
