Gnomon - time to move on Started conversation Jun 20, 2013
Tomorrow is the middle of summer, and also would have been my father's 90th birthday if he hadn't died last January.
We've done all the sad stuff, so now it is time to celebrate the memory of a great man. We'll do it in the way he liked best, by drinking a glass of wine. So 9pm tomorrow any of the relatives I could drum up will be raising a glass of wine to my father.

You can call me TC Posted Jun 20, 2013
My parents' wedding anniversary was the 17th of June. The first year after my father died, I sent my mother some flowers on that date. The second year I phoned her. In neither case did I mention why. But I'm not sure whether to continue commemorating the day or not, now.
I also make a point of phoning on the anniversary of his death and on his birthday.
Just having a drink in his memory makes it so simple. I wish I'd thought of that. He wasn't really a wine person - he drank Scotch and ginger ale. Several glasses in an evening in his heyday.
Here's to your father, Gnomon.

Well it was his 90th birthday really, wasn't it?
My dad died thirteen years ago but we're celebrating his hundredth with a sing-song in September.
