Gnomon - time to move on Started conversation May 25, 2012
Mrs G has gone off to London with a friend, and is at the Chelsea Flower Show at the moment.
I'm not really a gardening person. I enjoy being in gardens, and the nicer the garden, the more I enjoy it. But I'm not going to go around noting the names of all the plants.
I believe my fellow countryman, Diarmuid Gavin, has built a giant pyramid of plants, with a Fiat 500 on top. I'll look forward to the photos of that.

Diarmuid Gavin's entry didn't go down well with the judges, I believe he was awarded a silver gilt medal.
I have been avidly watching the BBC programmes even though some aspects get on my nerves
It is one of my all-time ambitions to visit the Chelsea Flower Show. Last year the daughter of a resident we visit was chatting about her upcoming visit and I mentioned I'd love to go one day. She brought me back a catalogue of that year's gardens and I was very touched at her thoughtfulness
I am rather envious of Mrs G but hope she has a great time

I,too am envious, although I know nothing about gardens. There are some nice pictures here:

including a mini covered in flowers and leaves, but on the ground.

There's a big flower show in Philadelphia, very snobbish bunch. Lovely displays, but very Main Line.
There's a tradition - every year, entrants try to sneak garden gnomes into their displays. When found, the plebeian gnomes are unceremoniously evicted.

That looks like a challenge to entrants, to construct gnomes from blooms.

There used to be sneaking going on. But I've just found out that they're okay now. Apparently, somebody started a trend there in the last couple of years.
But they're still banned at the Chelsea Flower Show:

She's back now. It was roasting in London. But I haven't seen any photos yet.
