h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I've got the new entries lined up for next Monday's front page, and for the Monday after that, thanks to sub-editors and artists all working hard. This means I now have time to do a bit of sub-editing - I've about 10 entries in my queue and two of those are hard ones.

Got next Monday's new Front Page Entries sorted, and just about got the ones for the following Monday too.

Thanks to all the authors, sub-editors, updaters and artists for their contributions.

Excellent news

Did most of the sub-editing on sprout's entry on International Adoption. That's two entries for next Monday week's front page almost sorted.

I also came across an entry on the Soma Cube A1064936 which was sadly lacking a diagram, so I made one and added it.

Yes, that one was desperately in need of a diagram.

Nice diagram you made! So explicit, it tempts the reader to make their own puzzle.

My Pentominoes entry cited in the Soma Cube one was inspired by making my own set from a sheet of balsa wood.

I made a soma cube when I was only 15 out of oxo cubes. It smelt really good.

Today's Front Page works well. That's the second week that we've included an update as one of the three "new" entries.

I've the entries all sorted for next week and I've got three picked out for the following week - one just needs to be checked, one needs sub-editing and one has the picture ready but it hasn't yet been approved by the Artists.

I see Lanza has put this weekend's Front Page up. It looks great!

I just discovered that the GuideML Clinic had no description of the CREDITS tag. This was a tag which was introduced into h2g2 after all the others, and the BBC editors either forgot to add it to the Clinic, or they added it to the central version of the Clinic but not to the h2g2 copy which we got from them.

So I've written a description of the CREDITS tag. If anybody is in the business of writing descriptions of markup languages and thinks they can do a better job, be my guest!

I see that Schreck asked for a description of the CREDITS tag to be added to the Clinic in September 2005, but it was apparently never done.

Thanks for adding this Gnomon - it explains why I have had to keep asking for a reminder as to how to add a credit in the past.

First, you get a time machine...

I just removed an entry from the publishing process and put it back into Peer Review for some further work. As far as I can remember, this has never been done before. I'm not trying to call attention to this particular entry here, it was a very good entry. I'm just recording the fact that we're doing something new, which should improve the Guide. We'll keep at things until they're right.
