Every year, I tell you all about the concerts I've just sung, and TC gives out to me for not announcing them in advance, as she might have gone.

So:

Victoria's Requiem Mass, and Shepperd's Media Vita - two classics of polyphonic church music.

Wednesday 1 Dec, Thursday 2 Dec - St Patrick's Cathedral
Culwick Choral Society
Messiah

Thursday 9 Dec - National Concert Hall
Culwick Choral Society
Christmas Music - the 5th Cantata from Bach's Christmas Oratorio, and Christmas carols.

I also have the Christmas Concert date for Gordon's choir, the Grimsby Philharmonic Society, in case anyone is interested in attending. Saturday 11 December (rehearsals began last night)

I'll be performing recitals of pop classics, in the shower, daily at 7:30am (weekends 8:30).

But you're not invited.

Thank you so much for letting us know, Gnomon. The programmes and the venues sound so enticing - unfortunately, one is on my birthday, and the other two are mid-week! I shall be with you in spirit. As from next year, when the new train connection to Mannheim is complete, I intend to re-join the choir I sang with before my boys were born, and do some proper singing again.

I've just had a look at their web site - they are doing the St John's Passion on Good Friday next year, and Beethoven's Missa Solennis in October 2011. Have already sung both of those ... in fact Missa Solennis is IMHO the ultimate setting for the words of the Mass. Although I sang it in 1975, I can still remember the alto part of the credo because it fits the words so well.

How do you fit rehearsals for three choirs in, along with all the writing you do for hootoo?

Whoops - counting on fingers went wrong there - two choirs, but so many works!

Well, we sing Messiah every year, so we don't have to do a huge amount of rehearsal for it. The Gaudete Singers meet on a Monday, and the Culwick on a Thursday, so they don't tend to clash too often.

Only when Thursday falls on a Monday, and vice versa (never could get the hang of Thursdays)
