My daughter Iz studies recorder on Saturdays in a group. Her teacher has been trying to arrange for them to perform in a concert, so she's arranged one for tomorrow in her hometown of Kilkenny. So Azara, Iz and I are setting off tomorrow morning to drive to Kilkenny (about 1 hour 30 minutes). The performers will have a rehearsal, then there's be a short concert for the parents and friends. Because I play recorder, I'll be asked to join in one or two of the pieces.
Then we're going to the park at Kilkenny Castle for picnic.

Sounds as though it's going to be a great day. I love recorder music.
What type of recorder will you play? I still have all of mine although I can only really remember the fingering/notation for the descant/tenor and not the others which is a pity because I like the sound of the Alto best.
Maybe we should set up an h2g2 recorder group!

If you take the C recorders, soprano and tenor, Sho, I'll handle the F's - sopranino and alto. .
Anyone for double bass?

It sounds kind of chinese if you play the soprano and the alto at the same time with the same finger positions...

I can play all the recorders, but today I needed to play tenor. The concert was a great success: the young ones played for about 20 minutes, including a Corelli trumpet concerto arranged for recorders, and an arrangement of Brahms's most famous Hungarian Dance. Then the teacher and two of her friends played a few 3-part pieces, including an Agnus Dei by Byrd and "The Teddy Bear's Picnic". THen we all played "Now is the Month of Maying". That finished the concert.
After that we strolled down to the Castle where there is a huge park, and had a picnic on the lawn. We said our goodbyes to all the rest, then, and had a quick trip to the bookshop before driving home, getting back to Dublin at about 5:30.
