Gnomon - time to move on

I spent two hours yesterday trying to get my internet working. I used to get my broadband from BT, and about three months ago they sold the business to Vodafone. Everything continued working fine until about two weeks ago when the service started disappearing at five past midnight for about 20 minutes. Then two days ago, I lost my internet from about 9:30pm onwards.

After talking to a very helpful woman in Vodafone called Jade for about an hour, I changed various settings on the modem - it turned out I was using a very old login account, which apparently predated even BT, and this didn't fully work any more. She got me to restore my router/modem to its factory settings, after which nothing worked. Then we changed things here and there until eventually everything was back to normal. Now I've got all the settings that are important written down as well!

So cheers to Jade, who was very patient and got me back on line again.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Sounds a little like a few years back... actually probably more like a year back, when Virgin changed some of their* settings... and our internet went very wonky... until we discovered the reason was that we still had a very* old NTL broadband cable modum, and that their new settings at tehir* end wouldn't work with it... Of course it'd have been nice were they to have actually told us this smiley - groansmiley - geek Glad its working anyhow smiley - zensmiley - geek

Do you know anything about imagine WiMax? I got a leaflet from them through my door, offering a Motorola home wifi hub with great savings on phone and broadband compared to eircom.

'If you're with imagine WiMax, the broadband is faster, better and cheaper. The calls are 50% cheaper and we don't charge you line rental.'
