Gnomon - time to move on

It was very cold this morning (-2°C) but at least the sun is shining and it looks as if it will be nice later. Perhaps we are finally getting to the end of this accursed cold.

I saw crocuses yesterday in the park, although not a single daffodil yet. Normally the daffodils are out by the middle of February, and my brother (Hi Zube!) has photos of them out on 1 Jan in a different, non-cold year.

No signs of spring here, still loads of snow, and Xynthia has hit us with a snowstorm.

You're correct - normally in Feb my dad cuts some of his camellia bush, to bring it inside for a few flowers for his birthday on the 16th. It's only just stopped being covered in snow so no flowers yet, it's well dormant still.

I guess we will have all the spring flowers blooming together rather than one after another as they should be.

My garden is totally smiley - weird Snowdrops are out in abundance; as is usual, daffodils are just showing signs of flower buds; but the mini tulips in a stone trough are in full flower and I have already had a small gathering from the strawberry plants in a half barrel.smiley - biggrin

I have snowdrops too, just a few, and the daffs are about four inches tall with buds on. The peonies are showing shoots too! Frosty and sunny, glorious today smiley - biggrin but -2ºC overnight. More of the same would suit me fine smiley - smiley

You can call me TC

The snow has only just disappeared here, but we sat outside on the lawn and had lunch on Saturday! There was a cool breeze, but when it abated, the sun was really hot.

However, Xynthia charged through on Saturday night and particularly the Black Forest became a very dangerous place to be. (We are not far from the Black Forest.)

Now it's calmer and warmer, but the roads are full of branches and fallen trees.

Haven't looked at the daffodils, but snowdrops and crocusses abound.
