h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I had a drink or two this evening with Wand'rin Star. She was one of the first Researchers I encountered on h2g2 back in 2000, when I commented on her Entry about British Money. She pointed me in the direction of the British English thread, one of the longest conversations on h2g2 which has kept on topic since its inception. I've had many happy hours there since.

It was nice to see Star again this evening. She's over in Dublin visiting her sons. We went to Neary's, the pub with the two giant arms outside holding lamps.

I think I picked one of the worst evenings of the year to go out for a drink - it's bitter cold, raining, and very windy. People often find Dublin's above zero temperatures harder to take than sub-zero temperatures in other places, because the wind drives the rain against you and sucks away all your heat. Neary's was lovely and warm, though, and I'd a warm house waiting at the end of my journey home.

Now I'm going to have something to eat.

The Spearcarrier lives on the sea front. Between his front door and the front gate I lost my hat twice and just managed to hang on to my inside out umbrella. I was really ready for my hot whisky when I got to Neary's. Happy New Year to all our readers.
