Back in 2001 I wrote a small Entry A565788 on the 3n+1 problem, a mathematical problem which seems very simple but resists all attempts to prove it. Professor Bryan Thwaites offered £1,000 to anybody who could prove or disprove it.
I notice that he is now Professor Sir Bryan Thwaites. As a former alumnus of Dulwich College, there is a short biography of him on their website. This gives a brief, very well written explanation of the 3n+1 problem. Guess where they lifted it from?

They didn't try to disguise it much, did they!
You've made me want to search for my plagiarised entries out there

Poor form, Dulwich! A cite wouldn't have hurt.

Gnomon - you are too kind!
They actually plagiarized your work!
And hey - I still can't locate the Sir Bryan and I've got the definitive proof of the 3n + 1 problem...soooooo frustrating.

I am Sir Brian, ting-ling!
I am sir Brian, rat-tat!
I am Sir Brian, as bold as a lion,
Take that! And that! And that!
I'm Brian, and so is my wife
