h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

This has really been the best summer we've had in years, but after the long weeks of dry, hot weather, the trees don't know what's hit them. Some of them are starting to drop their leaves already, and I've seen seeds and pine cones on the ground - it's beginning to feel like late summer already and it's not even midsummer until tomorrow!

We did have some incredible rain earlier. When the sun came the farmers were cutting silage like crazy, because the ground had been too wet to do it earlier. Contractors were run off their feet.

Gnomon, we have had a short spell of hot weather then rain, chilly winds, sunny spells and everywhere is unbelievably green. I am still waiting for Summer. We are promised warmer weather next week. I hope it doesn't go in to reverse and turn to drought.

Nice to "hear" about Summer! Here is only in the Calendar. In reality @ 2009 unkown on the East Coast of US ( New England!) Record cold and non stop rain for many weeks now.

Summmer Solstice Day--- the longest daytime! Remember: the dark days are coming! Actually they are here, because we don't see the Sun for weeks!

In case you would reply I don't know where to find it in this exciting new order of h2g2. I get lost in the looooooooooong # they gave me. I can find my Ace: B"Elena. She is in Germany.

Dublin has a much drier microclimate than the rest of the country. People in the south of the country are still skeptical about the summer. It hasn't been a washout by any means, but it's been very mixed so far this year.

I read the replies though outside of Dublin where this conversation started I don't know where the other replies come from exept mine was recorded in June 09 Long Island, State of New York, USA
In Summary: we are not alone here waiting for the Summer 09.
