Gnomon - time to move on

I've been very busy over the last week or two and haven't been able to give h2g2 my full attention.

I took Friday off to prepare for Friday evening, when we had daughter El's 18th Birthday Party, for family and friends of the family. It wasn't a big deal, but it still involved about 25 people coming around for drinks, and two families of them stayed the night.

On Saturday, we had tidying up after the party, and then Phase II, with El's teenage friends coming and almost all staying the night - there were 8 of them in one room on airbeds and mattresses.

Sunday was for tidying up after the party again. Monday it was back to work. Tuesday I had a job interview, the first one I've had in about 10 years, for a promotion within the company. That took up most of my thoughts. Tuesday night was spent driving around ferrying people to and from the tram, as the snow in our area was bad but the tram was still running on schedule, and they needed to get to music classes.

Then tonight Wednesday I was giving a concert, playing recorder along with my recorder class. Recumbentman's viol class played at the same concert (very good they were too!). This lasted about an hour, and then R and Mrs R (who is my recorder teacher) treated us to a glass of wine.

In the few spare moments in all that, I subbed Bob Stafford's "Cromwell" entry.

Back to normal tomorrow.

Congratulations all round. [You know very well it isn't finished: good families don't lose their children when they become adults.]smiley - starsmiley - star
My younger son took two and a half hours to get home yesterday. He's living near Stillorgan and working at Trinity at the moment, which would seem to suggest Luas involvement.

El only wrote two entries:

A2546039 Pokemon when she was 11 and
A2546039 Picasso when she was 14

I wish I could persuade her to write for the Guide.

I wasn't suggesting that I was finished with my daughter. Just that I was finished a very busy week.

Dear Gnoman,

well you have started of 2009 very well. Lovely holiday in florida, promotion, concerts and your daughter;s 18th birthdayl Soon my friend it will be being a grandfather,.!!

It has been bitterly cold here and I have hardly been out at all. fortunately I have two super carers, and a marvellous view which enables me to still feel part of this earth, and of course my computer and my TV. So I am a very happy old bunny.

The only thing missing is motivation to write. !!. Every morning I wake up, thinking
"Now today is the day"

and |I go back to my marvelllous routine of just enjoying myself. !!.

We are vaguely planning a trip to Cape Town. I would dearly love to go, but am really nervous of the rough seas and being seasick. Goodness knows what it would do to my poor overworked heart. !! Stop it stone dead, which is not a good idea. !

Kind regards

Christiane.

Dear GB,

It was absolutely sedentary except that I "fly" around my flat in my wheelchair getting from A to B.

It really is cold today. I must put on my dressing gown. !1

Go well my dear friend.

I didn't get a promotion, AR. I just did an interview.

And of course in the middle of all that, I had to write an article for the Post, which is published today: A46817526 The Kennedy Space Center. I just wrote that straight out in about 90 minutes. I didn't have time to re-read, so let's hope there weren't too many mistakes in it.
