Gnomon - time to move on Started conversation Dec 6, 2008
I'd gone off writing for a while and was concentrating on sub-editing. But I needed to write an entry on the Lives of Stars A42426993, which went down well. This led me to feel like completing my entry on Mathematical Knots A43825827, which I wrote a few years back but never finished because of the need for diagrams. I eventually plucked up the courage to ask the eds for permission to include diagrams, and they agreed, so that has been published.
The BACH Theme A44196942 was picked, and Cable Cars of San Francisco A34198752 is in Peer Review. Now I'm working on Coastal Redwoods - my trip to the redwood forests was probably the highlight of my trip to California.
After that, I'll go on to Pyramids of Egypt. And then, who knows? I've got some books I haven't read yet, any one of which might inspire me to write something:
Millennium - the origin of Christian Europe.
Tycho and Kepler - something interesting might come out of this.
The Holy Grail - tough going but I'm hoping for confirmation of my Four Treasures of Ireland theory.
Genghis Khan - an interesting book which I read but I'll have to read again before condensing into an entry
Kublai Khan - I started this one but then realised I needed to read Genghis Khan first, and never got back to it.
Topology - a rather over-abstract approach to the topic
The Crusades
In Search of the Trojan War

Ooh, knot theory. My MSc thesis was on braid theory.

Nah, I never went for the applied stuff, just stuck to theory.

That's what I like ... a man with a mission.
I might take a leaf out of your book and write about what I'm reading at the moment .... to check the guide.

Good luck with those, Gnomon.
I have a few on the go, too, but some of these are half-written ones which have stalled. If I ever think of a good idea then I just drop everything else and finish it in one session. Sometimes I just can't get back into the old train of thought.
