Anton Webern was visiting someone, I think his daughter and son-in-law, in American-occupied Austria just after WW2. The son-in-law gave him a present of a fancy cigar. Later, Webern went for a walk. He stopped to light his cigar... and an extremely edgy American soldier on patrol shot him dead.
