Hi Bluebottle.
There are two sections that I am not happy with, both of them my own wording.
1.
"it was looked after for many years, until Sauron came to the island. The Numenorians were so powerful that they defeated Sauron and took him to their island as a prisoner"
-- this sounds as if Sauron came to the island of his own volition and was later captured and brought there by force. Change it to:
it was looked after for many years, until Sauron's evil kingdom in Middle-earth caught the attention of the Numenorians. They were so powerful that they defeated Sauron and took him to their island as a prisoner
2.
has died without any offspring -- I don't think offspring is the right word for a tree. Change it to:
has died without any offshoots
Thanks again

I've made those changes now. One more question: '14,000 years are mentioned in unpublished writings' – is this unpublished in his lifetime or are the writings still unpublished? Christopher Tolkien has published an awful lot of his father's work, particularly in the 12-volume 'The History of Middle-earth'.

The figure of 14,000 years was published after JRR's death by his son Christopher in "Morgoth's Ring", one volume of The History of Middle-earth.

I'm glad you like it. I must try to return to Avebury this year.
