Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary]

(Sorry to butt in like that, blame Dragonfly, she gave me the link smiley - tongueout)

I've had a brief look at this review thingy... I'm still not worried. I'm not expecting the movie to be like the book - that's just the point! It's like the book isn't like the radio series!
No, I still think it'll be good. Can't wait to see it. smiley - biggrin

Amy: ear-deep in novels, poetics, and historical documents.

I saw that a little while ago... but to be honest, I think the guy had expectations that were just too high. And his main beef is that the movie isn't enough like previous versions of the. It's not supposed to be like any version which has been done already - that's sort of the tradmark of the various versions of H2G2. I mean, really, if it was exactly, word for word, from the books/tv show/radio shows/play, that'd be kind of pointless, wouldn't it?

Besides, I remember reading somewhere that this version will be - and was *meant* to be completely different than any other ones thus far.

I'm not worried. And I tend not to read reviews as to not become worried. smiley - winkeye

I am reserving judgement until the film comes out but although each version is different a certain amount of commonality is both common & I think necessary. I am still hopeful of a positive experience when the film comes out smiley - erm

Don't Panic!

I was at the premier and the film is a hoot, captures all the right elements in what can be said as a compact media compared to print or radio.

As Stephen Fry put it: "The only way some people thought we could ever acruatly portray the Hitch Hickers Guide to the Galexy was to film the book and turn the page every 40 seconds."

Well put as always, no I recomend going to see the film (even if you won't get to mingle with stars smiley - winkeye) it's a very good film and it looses nothing of the feeling and gains so much from the updated feel and some of the new jokes. this is a _new_ production don't go in there expecting the Book on screen.
