A Conversation for Sorrento, Italy

Trillian's child

This entry came up on exactly the day my husband leaves with a group of 30 pupils for Sorrent. I have printed it out for him and will let you know what he can add - in 10 days, when he gets back.

Given the length of time required for approval and the number of Entries waiting for approval, I can't get over the coincidence!

Spooky! It took from June 21st to last week to get edited, but at least it got there in time, eh?

Another potentially useful tip is that if he runs out of cash, the only machine that I was able to get my Visa card to work in was the Deutsche Bank way down at the Naples end of the town...a long walk from our hotel, I can tell you!

Interested to find out if much has changed around town...

Can't help you there. From Germany we always take our "ec" cards (the usual bank customer's card, not a separate credit card, which are not common in Germany anyway, but that's another story) and they work at most cash points.

The entries on Sorrent, Naples, Pompeii, etc., aren't really very substantial. But before the site gets loaded down with too uch techical information; it would be best to supply a list for extra reading and recommended books to be taken for reference while there.

As my husband is taking a school group, he has washing baskets full of the relevant literature with him and each member of the group has to hold a talk on a particular subject (ranging from the sites they visit, Pompei, Capri, Hercolaneum, Naples, etc., etc., to the local geography, local cuisine and vulcanology.)
What will be more relevant, though, is that he knows good cheap restaurants, as he has been taking groups of schoolkids there for at least 10 years now, and one climax of the trip is a visit to the ice-cream parlour.

You can call me TC

I'll get my husband to write you a piece. In the meantime, look up albatours in Stuttgart who do a great job of providing information for teachers. I assume you are German - would you like to be included in the GerManiaConnection. Do take a look at it

Are you going to change your name soon? Please let me know when you've thought one up because I can then include you in the list with a decent nick, rather than a number, which makes you sound like a prisoner.
